Tone Deaf Messaging

Donald Trump

Talk about missing the mark. When used correctly, your Message is your most important Marketing Tool. It defines the value of your brand and communicates its worth to your audience. No one can accuse Donald Trump, the audacious business tycoon, of shying away from controversial remarks. His brash and bluster is part of his brand. But, once you become a politician, running for the highest office in the land, watching what you say is critical to your success – and to that of the political party you represent.

That’s why it was  surprising when, Presidential hopeful, Donald Trump, dropped a bombshell during a recent speech. He made some very derogatory remarks while trying to explain his position on immigration. The fallout was swift. Pundits pounced, and the Latina host of one of his pageants, quit in disgust.

Now the network that carried all of his pageants and his TV show, The Apprentice, has dropped a bombshell of its own.  The two words Mr. Tump made famous are being used on him: “You’re Fired!”

Now, wouldn’t you think in a presidential year, this was the wrong message to send? As someone seeking high office, you might want to rely on the good relations you’ve built up over the years with the network that’s been your partner. Apparently, Mr. Trump doesn’t see it that way. Republicans have been seeking a better relationship with the Hispanic community. Not sure this is going to help. Read for yourself:
